Wendy Werner is International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s Country Manager for Bangladesh, Bhutan and Nepal, based in Dhaka. She is responsible for overseeing and developing IFC’s strategy, managing client relationships and delivering IFC’s business in the three countries.
Prior to moving to the South Asia region, Ms. Werner was the Manager for Trade and Competitiveness Advisory Services for the East Asia Pacific region. Under her leadership, the portfolio focused on improving the investment climate, strengthening competitiveness in Agribusiness and regional trade and investment policy in more than 15 countries across the region.
During her career with IFC, Ms. Werner has managed programs in Tajikistan and the Western Balkans on regulatory simplification, international tax harmonization and regional trade logistics. Ms. Werner’s IFC career started in South Asia where she worked on investment climate reforms and corporate governance from 2002 to 2008 in Bangladesh and Bhutan. Ms. Werner has experience in the power and natural gas industry, focused on project finance.
Wendy holds a BA from Grinnell College in Iowa, USA and an MBA and MA from George Washington University; she is a CFA Charter-holder and an active CFA Institute volunteer.
